Genesis Santos
- Retention Specialist of TRIO Student Support Services
Genesis Santos serves as the Retention Specialist of TRIO Student Support Services, where she supports and advises students, provides academic coaching, and coordinates programming efforts. As a first-generation Latina college graduate and double TRIO alum (Upward Bound and McNair Scholars Program), she is excited to pour into students and give back to similar programs that played a significant role in her academic journey.
Prior to her specialist role, Genesis collaborated with a range campus partners at Baylor. She worked in the First in Line program and Student Success Orientation sessions under the Success Center, the Examined Life Scholars Pre-College Program under the Honors College and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and the Science and Health Living-Learning Community under the Office of Prehealth Studies in partnership with Campus Living and Learning.
A native Wacoan, Genesis attended Waco ISD schools (Go Trojans!). She holds an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from McLennan Community College and two degrees from Baylor University: a Bachelor of Science in Education in Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Her master's thesis focused on the role of family in the lives of low-income college students navigating food insecurity at prestige-oriented universities. She previously served as the Vice President of the Baylor McNair Graduate Student Association and currently serves as a member of the Baylor Latino Alumni Alliance. She enjoys thrifting, journaling, attending Baylor and Waco events, and spending time with her family and friends.
