Resources for Your Students
Academic Support Programs offers coordinated, research‑supported academic resources that help students strengthen course understanding, build effective study habits, and stay engaged throughout the semester. Through Supplemental Instruction sessions led by trained peer leaders, Tutoring Center services that include individual appointments, group support, study guides, and faculty‑approved video tutorials, and Personalized Academic Assistance such as academic coaching, mentoring, and skill‑building resources, we provide comprehensive support that complements your teaching and empowers students to thrive in your courses.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) Supplemental Instruction (SI) offers students an opportunity to practice course content outside of lecture with the guidance of a peer leader in a group setting. Peer leaders are students who have taken the class before and passed with an 'A'. They host two sessions per week and prepare worksheets for students to complete collaboratively.
Originally designed by University of Kansas Missouri City (UMKC) SI is a statistically proven program that helps students do half-to-a-whole-letter-grade better in historically difficult classes.
Your class may qualify to receive SI support if it has a consistent DFW rate of 20% or higher (D, Fail, or Withdraw). If you are interested, please contact the SI Program Manager, Hannah Dahl at hannah_dahl@baylor.edu.
